Job Summary

AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a creative, highly talented Deputy Project Manager for immediate employment Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia office. Assignment is expected to run for five years, as part of MCC/Mongolia Compact II Development activity. Deputy PM will be based in Ulaanbaatar for the majority of the contract period.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the PM in the day-to-day management of the design and construction oversight of well development, 20km raw water pipeline, 8km finished water pipeline, 50Million m3/year water purification plant, storage tanks and pump stations in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

  • Assisting with day-to-day management and direction of team of resources including expats and local Mongolian resources and subcontractors

  • MCA client and stakeholder (various ministries, technical and expert working groups and others) communication and reporting; local subcontractor communication and direction; tracking of local work activities including permits and approvals; supervision of local office staff; and coordination with project control (schedule, budget, data management, document control) team

  • Assist PM in coordinating activities of technical disciplines and support services including hydrology, hydrogeology, geotechnical, structural, civil, electrical, mechanical, power supply, sanitary, plumbing, scheduling, cost, environmental, and other disciplines as needed

  • Other assignments at the direction of the PM

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction or other related field required

  • 5+ years of experience in similar project management role

  • US PE registration/license or comparable international engineering, scientific or other registration or certification

  • Work experience in Mongolia or other east Asia geography

  • Major civil infrastructure experience

  • Proficient in written and verbal Mongolian

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent record of client and stakeholder coordination and communication

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Water supply and treatment experience
