The duties of the Resident Geotechnical Engineer shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
Achieve at least the minimum standard of supervision equivalent to a resident geotechnical engineer working in Architectural Services Department. The normal duties are outlined in Local Manual No. 4, & SSP7 of SEB Procedures issued by Architectural Services Department.
Ensure that the Geotechnical Engineering Works is carried out in accordance with the design assumptions, specifications, contract requirements, and good engineering practice.
Assist “The Supervising Officer” in the contract administration with respect to Geotechnical Engineering Works.
Monitor the performance of contractors and sub-contractors.
Carry out any other duties as stated in Development Bureau Technical Circulars, Architectural Services Department Local Manual No. 4, Project Administration Handbook, Structural Engineering Branch Procedures No. SSP 7, SGP1, & Structural Engineering Instructions when acting as Resident Geotechnical Engineer.
Carry out any other duties specified by the liaison geotechnical engineer/consultant due to the nature of geotechnical engineering works required in the project.
The minimum qualifications required for the post of Resident Engineer (Geotechnical) shall be as follows:
A Registered Professional Engineer (Geotechnical) or equivalent as recognized by the Geotechnical Engineering Office of Civil Engineering and Development Department.
5 years of post-qualification experience in the field of geotechnical or slope works for site supervision and coordination.
Met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2
or above in English Language and Chinese Language in Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) /Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent.
- Grade E in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to Level 2 in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.]_
An employment contract of minimum 20 months with salary offered in accordance with the appropriate Government pay scale point.
