Job Description

As a Senior Sustainability Consultant on our team, you will support projects and provide strategic guidance to teams pursuing various third party sustainability certification systems (such as LEED, BREEAM, WELL) from conceptual design through construction phase. Your role will include providing everyday technical guidance to design teams, conducting detailed QAQC, and presentation of outcomes to the lead teams and/or clients. In addition, you will support the development of innovative ESG solutions which reflect optimal outcomes for new and existing projects whilst balancing client objectives.

You will have the opportunity to participate in other sustainability initiatives, such as developing and deploying educational/training content, providing mentorship to support upskilling of staff as it relates to ESG, and engaging with AECOM’s Technical Practice Groups (TPGs) and coordinating with global ESG teams.

The successful candidate should be a dynamic, self-directed individual with an excellent understanding of different sustainability certification systems and ESG reporting frameworks across multiple countries and various sectors. The candidate should also have a demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and communicate innovative solutions for furthering ESG initiatives. Flexible work schedules will be required to accommodate clients and project team meetings in various time zones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promotes AECOM’s Sustainable Legacies ESG Strategy

  • Support ESG assessments for diverse set of projects across multiple countries.

  • Provide technical guidance to design teams to drive sustainability integration in projects and comply with AECOM’s technical quality standards

  • Understand and technically interpret the requirements and metrics for compliance with LEED, BREEAM, WELL, and other third-party certifications

  • Assist projects in documenting and complying with various third-party building sustainability certifications

  • Provide QAQC support for third-party building sustainability certification projects conducted within different regions and business lines

  • Guide the process of collecting and interpreting complex client data sets, including conducting, organizing, and synthesizing research (related to energy, water, waste, GHG), methodologies, and standards

  • Lead internal knowledge sharing and support skills development for staff

  • Interface with other Technical Leads across AECOM’s Global ESG Practice

  • Provide advice to clients/teams regarding the best long-term strategies to achieve Net Zero alignment, meet targets and supports their sustainability ambitions

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a sustainability-related field.

  • Active LEED AP credentials

  • Demonstrated experience in leading/supporting projects from start to finish that pursue third party building sustainability rating/certification systems (including but not limited to LEED, BREEAM, WELL)

  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks and standards including GRI, SASB, ISSB, TCFD, and UN Global Compact among others.

  • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills with an ability to convey complex information clearly

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree, in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field

  • 5 years’ experience in ESG, sustainability or decarbonization climate change, and decarbonization advisory

  • Strong technical knowledge in the domain of Climate Change, Decarbonization Strategy and ESG

  • Knowledge of the following preferred: GHG accounting and reporting standards

  • Experience with Revit/BIM is a plus

  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead and coordinate diverse teams
