Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Environmental Chemist – Data Validation to be based in Bengaluru, KA, India. Candidates will be responsible for the following activities:
Review and validate chemical data packages by United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) guidance to ensure compliance with published analytical methods and usability of environmental data.
Upload laboratory analytical data to specific client and regulatory databases.
Manage data in relational database systems like Earthsoft EQuIS or Microsoft Access.
Handle electronic data deliverables to create report-ready tables and visualizations.
Prepare technical memoranda and white papers to be included in client deliverables.
Implement innovation and automation tools produced by the team.
Task management: Manage workloads assigned by chemistry staff within stipulated time.
The project chemist will support quality assurance/quality control, data management, data analysis, and various analytical chemistry aspects of environmental investigations for our clients.
The candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, developing their technical skills as a chemist while exploring new interests as well.
You’ll be valued as a unique resource as you contribute and support our project teams by providing key technical assistance for various environmental remediation and monitoring projects.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, environmental science, or another related discipline + 4 years of relevant experience in a Quality control laboratory and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.
The ideal candidate will be able to understand requests from environmental subject matter experts.
Strong written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of environmental chemistry principles.
Knowledge of analytical chemistry principles (i.e., quality assurance and quality control)
Familiarity with data validation, data review, field screening, data management, and sampling plans.
Experience using relational databases such as EQuIS or Microsoft Access.
Should be proficient in data validation and understand the valid qualifiers and reason codes.
Knowledge or experience with the analytical challenges presented by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
Experience performing chemical analysis (Quality control) in an academic or commercial setting.
Preferred Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in chemistry, environmental science, or another related discipline and 5 + years of relevant experience
