Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Chemist – Data Validation to be based in Bengaluru, KA, India. Candidates will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Review and validate chemical data packages by United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) guidance to ensure compliance with published analytical methods and usability of environmental data.

  • Upload laboratory analytical data to specific client and regulatory databases.

  • Manage data in relational database systems like Earthsoft EQuIS or Microsoft Access.

  • Handle electronic data deliverables to create report-ready tables and visualizations.

  • Prepare technical memoranda and white papers to be included in client deliverables.

  • Implement innovation and automation tools produced by the team.

  • Task management: Manage workloads assigned by chemistry staff within stipulated time.

  • The project chemist will support quality assurance/quality control, data management, data analysis, and various analytical chemistry aspects of environmental investigations for our clients.

  • The candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, developing their technical skills as a chemist while exploring new interests as well.

  • You’ll be valued as a unique resource as you contribute and support our project teams by providing key technical assistance for various environmental remediation and monitoring projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, environmental science, or another related discipline + 4 years of relevant experience in a Quality control laboratory and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.

  • The ideal candidate will be able to understand requests from environmental subject matter experts.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Knowledge of environmental chemistry principles.

  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry principles (i.e., quality assurance and quality control)

  • Familiarity with data validation, data review, field screening, data management, and sampling plans.

  • Experience using relational databases such as EQuIS or Microsoft Access.

  • Should be proficient in data validation and understand the valid qualifiers and reason codes.

  • Knowledge or experience with the analytical challenges presented by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

  • Experience performing chemical analysis (Quality control) in an academic or commercial setting.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in chemistry, environmental science, or another related discipline and 5 + years of relevant experience
